How To Relieve & Prevent Migraines From Stress

Migraines suck. There’s no way around it. There are many different kinds of migraines, but they all share the same suckiness.

18% of women and 5% of men suffer from this condition, and to make matters worse, there are no medications that reduce the number of migraines. As of now, migraine meds help decrease pain but can cause a fair amount of side effects. Luckily, many people are turning to a remedy that has been around for thousands of years: acupuncture.

There have been a myriad of studies lately that show how acupuncture can possibly reduce the number and frequency of migraines. One such study showed that headache frequency decreased by at least half in 57% of acupuncture recipients three months following acupuncture and by 46% for those who took migraine prevention drugs. Another study showed that after twenty-four weeks, the frequency of peoples’ migraine headaches decreased by 3.2 per week.

These studies, of course, only confirm what acupuncturists and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners have known for generations. By keeping a body’s energy flow balanced, an acupuncturist can slow the transmission of pain. Another benefit is that acupuncture has very few side effects, while migraine medication can cause nausea, difficulty thinking, and trouble functioning. And not for nothing, but acupuncture is usually cheaper than buying bottles and bottles of expensive migraine medication. Scientists agree, saying, “[Acupuncture] is at least as effective as prophylactic drug therapy, has longer-lasting effects, is safe, seems to be cost-effective and reduces drug intake with possibly severe unwanted effects.”

So, if you suffer from migraines, consider scheduling an appointment with Pulse Community Care. We have years of experience treating migraines with acupuncture and would love to participate in your wellness journey. Migraines suck. But we can help make them suck less.
